Today we are getting to know Rebekkah from Runway Events. She is a rock star event planner and won the young innovator of the year award! Get to know one of our favorite Orlando-based wedding vendors…
What do you do and how long have you been in the business?
I am an event planner and owner of Runway Events. I have been in the event business for almost ten years starting in Michigan and then moving to Orlando. I started working in concerts and festivals and then completely fell in love with weddings!
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about my job is that no day is exactly the same. Every day I wake up to meet new people, experience new things and consistently having opportunities to grow and make positive changes! Never a dull moment.
Breakfast or Dinner?
Breakfast all day! I think I have an obsession. Can’t decide on dinner? Well, then. Eggs!
If you could travel anywhere where would you go?
My hubby and I absolutely love to travel but have never really been out of the Country. My family is from Calabria, Italy so I would love to travel there and be immersed in the culture! While we’re at it – might as well visit Spain and France, too!
Cats or Dogs?
Dogs! I have never really been a cat person but can’t get over how cute puppies are.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
In five years, I see Runway expanding more to New York and Miami and having offices and staff in both locations. In ten years I see Runway expanding to other metropolitan cities and having the opportunity to travel with events and branching out more to event design and styling. My husband is a hairstylist, so I see us traveling together and for him to own a salon and be an educator as well. I would also love to travel the world with him!
Favorite item in your closet?
My Kate Spade black and white pumps. I’m obsessed.
Favorite song right now? Of all time?
I’m such a huge music buff. Don’t judge me but I’m obsessed with “You Know You Like It” by DJ Snake & AlunaGeorge. Of all time – I would have to say Switchfoot – “Only Hope”.
Wallflower or dancing queen?
I would have to say I tend to be a little more of a wallflower but I’m not afraid to dance if the music’s right!
If you could give advice to your former self what would it be?
Don’t live in your past or people’s opinions of you and don’t be fearful. Be strong, be better and look forward and not behind you. You are exquisite.
Favorite place to eat or date night spot Orlando?
My hubby and I are obsessed with Cooper’s Hawk right now. We’re totally winos so we joined the wine club and have now become regulars. We also love Eastside Bistro or Vespr Craft Coffee.
Favorite thing about living in Florida?
I love the Florida sunshine and that I can wear flip flops whenever I want! For real, being from up north it was depressing experiencing gloomy weather most of the time. Here, the sunshine makes me feel happier and more motivated!
What was your favorite course in college?
Marketing. I loved learning every aspect about branding and the psychology behind corporations and success.
If you could have coffee with anyone in the world who would it be?
Gwen Stefani. Is that silly? She just seems so fun!
What is the best marriage advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice we have been given is to continue to date each other. Even though we are both busy with our businesses, we take time out for date night, grabbing a cup of coffee or going out for a drink. It seriously keeps us so close and makes me love him more and more every day.
