🎧 DJ Assistant (No Experience Required)
This is where most DJs start at Our DJ Rocks.
As a DJ Assistant, you’ll work alongside our DJs while learning equipment, music flow, and the Our DJ Rocks experience through hands-on training and DJ University (DJU).
No DJ experience is required.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with DJ setup and breakdown at weddings and events
- Learn DJ equipment, software, and event flow
- Observe and practice music mixing and programming
- Support microphone moments using prepared scripts
- Help keep events running smoothly behind the scenes

This role is your entry point into DJ University and future DJ performance opportunities.
Requirements & Commitments
Must-Have
- Weekend availability (most events book 1–6 months in advance)
- Reliable personal transportation
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs unassisted
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Love of music and working with people
- Must be 18+ years old
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
- Customer service or hospitality experience
Growth & Advancement
DJ Assistants typically train for 5+ months alongside our Lead DJs.
After demonstrating alignment with our values, reliability and professionalism, and dedication to learning, you may be invited to continue training through DJ University to become a performing DJ and manage your own events. This process can take up to a year and includes hands-on performance training.
Peak-season availability (October–April) may be required for advancement opportunities.
Pay & Benefits
- DJ Assistants (Roadies): Start at $17.50/hour
- DJs (No Experience): $200–$450 per event (approx. $25–$50/hour when factoring prep + event time)
- 401(k) with company match available to all DJs, part-time or full-time
- Paid training through DJ University

Already an Experienced DJ?
If you have 10+ years of paid solo wedding DJ/MC experience, please apply and include recent DJ mixes and an MC reel.
Qualified candidates will perform a live DJ/MC set as part of the interview and shadow paid on 3–4 weddings for evaluation.
Compensation for experienced DJs averages $100/hour depending on event scope.
