Job Description
As an Our DJ Rocks DJ, you’ll start out as a DJ Assistant learning the ropes of equipment, mixing and the Our DJ Rocks Brand and Experience with the potential to grow into a DJ.
Job Responsibilities
(may include but not limited to)
- Setting up Equipment for Events
- Select music for events to keep the dance floor packed!
- Learn how to mix music!
- Memorize prepared scripts for announcing on a microphone
Requirements + Commitments
- Can lift up to 75 pounds unassisted
- Basic understanding and love of music
- Able to stand for long periods
- Weekend availability for scheduling 1-6 months in advance.* This is when the majority of our clients book.
- Reliable personal transportation
- Must be 18+ years old
- Previous customer service experience a plus
*Opportunities for advancement within the company may be available, and will require peak-season availability (Oct-April) for up to 2 years.
Our DJs work a minimum of 25 weddings/events per year with the potential to work 50-100 weddings/events per year.
Have NO DJ Experience?
If you have no DJ experience, you’ll onboard as a DJ Rockstar and work alongside our top DJ talent for 5+ months to learn the ropes and master equipment knowledge and setup. After that you meet our core values, are the right fit for the brand, and show dedication and potential, you may have the ability to train with us to learn how to DJ and Manage your own events, which could take up to a year.
Our DJ Roadies currently make $17.50 per hour.
Already an Established Rockstar?
If you’ve reached this page and already have Experience DJing, we ask that you have at least 5 years of paid solo wedding DJ/MC experience, a full and complete comparable sound system to what we provide our team, a facade or DJ booth, and lighting. You will be required to have your own Worker’s Comp Policy and list Our DJ Rocks as additionally insured. You must also operate under your own LLC or Sole Proprietor business.
If you meet these requirements, please submit your application along with your latest mixes and an MC reel. We do ask that you play a set and MC live as part of your interview, and then shadow paid on 3-4 weddings so we can get a gauge of your experience level.
Compensation: For DJs with experience, the average pay is $100 per hour starting for all the time invested in each wedding/event. Depending on the scope of the event, some events pay less, some pay more. There are times that you would be responsible for staffing your own event (assistant or roadie).
Average wedding prep is 10-15 hours, and the average wedding day is up to 12 hours. The average non-wedding event day is 5 hours.
