Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Do I need DJ experience to apply?
No- but you do need the right energy.
We train from the ground up through our internal program. Some of our best DJs started with zero experience.
What matters most is confidence, coachability, presence, and how you show up in a room.
How does training work?
Training is structured and hands-on. You’ll move through:
- Warehouse + equipment training
- Shadowing live events
- Assisting DJs onsite
From there, those who qualify are invited into our 8-week DJU (DJ University) training program, where we develop you into a confident, client-ready DJ.
This is not a one-day process—we build professionals.
Is this a full-time position?
No—this is a part-time, event-based role.
Most events happen:
- Nights
- Weekends
- Peak seasons (October–May especially)
If you’re looking for a consistent 40-hour work week or benefits like a 401(k), this likely isn’t the right fit.
How many hours can I expect?
It varies based on:
- Seasonality
- Your availability
- Your performance and growth
Some team members work a few events a month. Others build up to consistent weekend schedules.
Do I need my own equipment?
No. We provide all professional DJ and event equipment.
You do need:
- A reliable vehicle
- Ability to load and transport gear
- Comfort with hands-on setup and breakdown
What kind of person thrives here?
People who:
- Have strong presence and personality
- Are polished and professional
- Can read a room and adapt
- Take feedback well and improve quickly
- Bring positive energy into every space
This is not a “hide behind the booth” role. You are part of the experience.
What am I responsible for?
You’ll be responsible for:
- Driving yourself to and from events
- Loading, transporting, setting up, and breaking down equipment
- Finalizing details directly with your clients ahead of the event
- Managing music flow and energy
- MCing and guiding timelines
You’re not just playing music—you’re leading moments.
How long does it take to become a DJ?
It varies by the individual and the training schedule.
Most people:
- Start as assistants
- Move through hands-on training
- Earn DJ opportunities based on readiness
We promote based on performance, consistency, and confidence—not just time. On average the DJs who have Graduated DJ University range from 6 months to 12 months to be ready to take on gigs independently.
Is this seasonal work?
Yes—with busy and slower seasons.
Peak:
- Fall
- Spring
Slower:
- Summer + early year (varies)
What makes this different from other DJ companies?
We’re not a “plug in a playlist” company.
We focus on:
- Professional presence
- Clean, elevated setups
- Strong MC skills
- Reading the room and leading energy
You’re not just a DJ here—you’re part of a brand experience.
