Meet a DJ Who Rocks…Stasia!

DJ Stasia - DJs Who Rock

When people ask “What do you do?” how do you answer?

I’m a wedding DJ! I get to make memories and create moments through music!

What did you do before you did this?

Music has always been a part of my life. Before I got into DJing, I produced music and played piano and guitar. Occupation wise, I was in the restaurant industry.

When and how did you get into the wedding industry?

I got into the wedding industry through my University—Rosen College at UCF. My major is Entertainment Management.

How did your work evolve to get you to where you are today?

I had no idea I was going to work in the wedding industry at first. I knew that I would love any job that had to do with music and people. I’m glad this is where my work has evolved!

What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?

My favorite thing about what I do is the fact that it involves music and how it affects people. I feel like everything I do is so important to so many people who depend on me. It’s so awesome to know that music has such an important role in my life and other people’s lives.

Tell us about your most memorable event so far and why it was.

Rachel and Deedee!! We actually just had them on a recent episode of our Thursday livestream BackStage Pass.

We really got along well, they are the sweetest people (their daughter Skylar too, who was a big part of their wedding!). It was an incredible day from start to finish. We had so much fun on the dance floor!

What’s the best part of your job?

Music! All the people I meet! Dancing! All the new experiences I have! So many “best parts” haha! If I had to honestly pick the best part, it would be the fact that I’m surrounded by music all the time.

What motivates you to do this everyday?

I don’t need any motivation really, just the fact that my job is being a WEDDING DJ is motivation enough. And of course all my awesome couples! They motivate me a lot.

What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?

I speak and write in Russian even though I don’t have an accent!

What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?

“You made our day.” That’s always the best one. Or when they invite me to their after-party, I consider that to be the highest of compliments.

What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?

“How old are you?” Lol!

Regarding weddings, brides and/or grooms are often interested in what is played at other weddings and which songs would be good for which part of the day. Another popular question is: “Do I have to do this?” And the answer is no, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. It’s your wedding!

Best piece of advice for brides or grooms.

What I said above!

I understand that it’s good to consider your guests’ wishes and tastes, but at the end of the day, don’t ever let that outshine what you had envisioned for your wedding.

You can do whatever you want with your big day. And you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to! This goes for anything: music, food, traditions, etc.
