Oxford Exchange Wedding: Kayla & Nik’s Vibrant Celebration

Oxford Exchange wedding ceremony setup in the atrium with floral installation and checkerboard floor

A historic venue with modern style

Kayla and Nik were drawn to the Oxford Exchange in Tampa, Florida for its mix of character, architecture, and clean design. Originally built in 1891 and restored in 2012, the venue features exposed brick, a grand staircase, and industrial details that still feel current. The atrium’s glass ceiling and black-and-white checkerboard floors bring in beautiful natural light, while the conservatory and library create intimate spaces for guests to gather.

Their winter celebration made full use of the venue: ceremony in the atrium, dinner in the conservatory, and a reception that moved naturally from one space to the next. Our DJ Rocks loves working here because the flow is seamless, and the setting gives every part of the day its own feel.

Ceremony in the atrium

As guests arrived, soft instrumentals set the tone while our team provided lapel and handheld microphones for the officiant. A vintage grandfather clock framed by colorful florals created a striking focal point for the vows. Kayla walked down the aisle to “Attaboy” by The Goat Rodeo Sessions, and the couple recessed to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

The atrium’s windows and layered lighting gave the ceremony a warm glow, and after the vows our team coordinated a quick room flip to transform the space for dancing later that evening. Guests moved to the conservatory for cocktails and a Polaroid guest book while we refreshed the atrium with uplighting and party mode.

Dinner and toasts

Dinner took place in the Oxford Exchange restaurant space, where long tables were styled with single-stem florals, glass hurricanes, and candlelight. Kayla and Nik welcomed everyone with a heartfelt toast before guests enjoyed a plated meal. Their wedding party kept the energy light and fun with drink-in-hand toasts, and the newlyweds cut into a two-tier cake decorated with hand-piped flowers before inviting everyone back into the atrium for dancing.

One of our favorite design details was the tablescape. Small arrangements of dahlias, anthurium, and mums in glass bud vases paired with candlelight created a cozy, modern look against the venue’s historic brick walls.

First dances and open dancing

Under DJ Stasia’s direction, Kayla and Nik opened the dance floor with “The Very Thought of You” by Nat King Cole. A father-daughter dance to “Give Me Away” by Riley Roth was followed by a mother-son dance that blended “Kultainen nuoruus” and “Häissä,” honoring Nik’s Finnish heritage. Once the formal dances wrapped, the party opened up in a big way.

Our DJ kept the floor moving with a high-energy mix and used 12 uplights in party mode to shift the feel of the room as the night built. Later in the evening, Kayla dedicated “L-O-V-E” to both moms, and the couple closed out the celebration with a final sing-along to “My Universe” by BTS and Coldplay. After a private last dance to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” they exited through a ribbon wand sendoff.

Work with Us Our DJ Rocks

Kayla and Nik trusted Our DJ Rocks with the soundtrack for their day, and we were honored to help bring it all together. DJ Stasia handled ceremony audio, curated the pre-ceremony and cocktail playlists, coordinated the timeline with the planning team, and led all announcements throughout the evening. We also provided a lapel microphone and handheld mic for the officiant, set up 12 wireless uplights to highlight the venue’s architecture, and programmed party lighting to match the energy of the room.

If you’re planning a wedding at the Oxford Exchange or another Tampa venue, we’d love to help create a celebration that feels polished, personal, and fun from start to finish. Contact us to learn more about our DJ and lighting services.
